In recognition of this day and all the wonderful and talented women I’ve have the pleasure of working with. Both in front of and behind the camera I have been fortunate enough to collaborate with some amazingly talented and incredibly intelligent women, and my work has been made all the better for it.
Had another shoot recently with the wonderful, and accommodating, Saule. I’d spotted an interesting looking location whilst on a walk and thought it might be worth a try. Fortunately the weather was better and much warmer than it had been so it was quite a pleasant night. Not bad for a first attempt.
So I haven’t spent much time in the studio recently, and when I say recently I mean the last two years!
When I was teaching I was in the studio all the time, not only teaching but shooting as well. These days I dabble in the studio every so often. I shoot only the kind of work I want to (generally very dark and minimal) and more often than not my ‘studio’ is wherever I happen to be (love my portable lights).
A trip to Cologne you say, lots of Schnitzel and strudel you say, an entire exhibition centre of camera porn….oh go on then 🙂
The biannual camera fest that is Photokina took place at the end of September and i felt that a little trip was in order.
Well, it’s taken me a while (a long while, nearly an epoch) to finally get to shooting some wet plates but here they are in all their glory (or lack thereof).
I took a course with the great Tony Richards back in January and have been slowly getting the equipment together needed to create and shoot wet plates.
Not a new shoot but fairly recent. I was lucky enough to work with Roseanne about 5 years ago and felt we were long overdue for another shoot.
Had a lovely shoot with the fantastic (and fantastically talented, she’s really bendy) April. Some lovely portraits and a fun shoot.
It all seems to have been about portraits lately, which is great as it gives me a chance to shoot and meet lovely new people.
Did I enjoy photo London 2016 – Honest answer? I’m not really sure.
For many reasons i was both looking forward too and not looking forward to this years event.
So the photography show was on at the NEC in March again.
New hall and another new look but i’m still not sure it worked!
